For the last few months the Freebirds World Burritos in Lewisville, TX has enjoyed having me in on the third Tuesday of the month (that is tomorrow night) for their family night when kids eat free.
Well since Freebirds is one of my favorite places to eat and the customers enjoy it so I’ve expanded to the Freebirds in Denton, TX as well. I’ll be going from table to table making large balloon costumes and balloon animals for kids and adults. So come on by and give me something creative. If I can’t make it the first time I’ll study it and learn how to make it the second.
I created another first yesterday. I was asked by a son to create a large Catholic rosary to be released in honor of the one year anniversary of his mother’s passing.
I’ve always said good balloon sculptures should be emotional. They don’t just need to be happy or silly, but they can bring about something deeper as well.
Religious symbolism is important to so many people and expresses their relationships, not only with God, but with one another as well.
Whatever you’re looking to celebrate or honor give Higher Hope Balloons a call and I look forward to creating the perfect idea for you.
I received a call yesterday and it kinda got me excited! The lady called to book me for her son’s super hero birthday party. Now, I do a lot of different themed parties. I’ve done clowns, Elmo, circus, SpongeBob, Dora the Explorer, Princess, Cowboy, Pirate, and a ton of other themed parties, but it has been years since I’ve gotten to do a super hero party.
The best part is that the kid is a big Superman fan. I’m a total geek and I can’t wait for the new “Man of Steel” movie to come out. I’ve been reading comics for 20 years now and yes, you are allowed to mock my nerdiness. So I’m busy working on some balloon designs. Here are some I’ve used in the past:
I made this for DC Comics New 52. The girl holding it was smiling the entire time except when I snapped the photos.
Super balloon for a super kid!
As you can I tried to represent the DC Comics and Marvel Universe. I’m a big Avengers fan as well. I can’t wait for this party!
Whatever your birthday party theme give me a call and I guarantee I will come up with some awesome creations just for you!
As a balloon artist I am asked all the time if I dress as a clown. Back when I was younger I did for some events with church, but what I quickly found out is that while many people love clowns, an equal number or more are terrified of them. So as more parents realized this the less demand there was for clowns. So I decided when I became a profession performer not to do make-up and costumer style clowning.
Instead I chose to follow in the footsteps of America’s favorite clown, Red Skelton! I grew up watching great clowns and comedians like Red, Jerry Lewis, and Lucille Ball. They made me laugh and forget my cares and they did it without resulting to vulgarity. It was humor for me as a boy and fitting for my grandmother as well. They would have crazy slapstick and would make fun of themselves and their audience, but always in a lovable way.
Red always had the best characters from Clem Kadiddlehopper to Freddie the Freeloader (the one character that did use makeup). My favorite bits were when he would break a rule of performing and just crack up at his own jokes or his audience. He had a love of God and country and he wasn’t ashamed of it. His Pledge of Allegiance bit is fondly remembered by many and has even been read on the floor of Congress.
I was in Branson last week and saw Tom Mullica’s tribute to Red Skelton and I laughed til I cried and then a tear was brought to my eye for a moment to mourn the loss of such great entertainers. Red’s day has past but it is his legacy and those like him I try to perform and bring a smile to you and yours. Thank you so much for the opportunity to do so.
Last week was the centennial anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. I was very happy to join the Christian Boys and Men Titanic Society for a weekend remembering those that gave their live for “women and children first.”
Of course I had to leave my mark on the event so I created a giant balloon Titanic costume.
I hadn’t really planned on creating the Titanic so I settled to create the bow of the ship (which would have filled with water and tipped downward but you get the drift).
It was a lot of fun to create and many of the kids came up and helped blow up balloons including some of the Duggar boys from the series “19 Kids and Counting.” What a great and sweet family they are.

I was just watching the latest Up All Night and they had a balloon guy at their Mommy and Me type group. it was a good reminder of how much I love working at these mom groups. So if you know a mother’s group out there that needs a balloon guy please send them my way!
With the Iowa Caucus tomorrow I thought I’d share a photo from the election four years ago. Below is a photo of John McCain and a couple of staunch looking Secret Service guys with a balloon I made in McCain’s likeness. This is probably my most famous balloon sculpture because the Associated Press (AP) and TMZ picked and aired it a few times. TMZ’s caption was “Full of Hot Air:
Looks like he’s finally found a qualified running mate.”
Whoever you’re supporting this election cycle remember to get out and vote! And just as important remember to have great balloon decorations, balloon entertainment, and maybe even a balloon drop at your celebrations!
This was a really fun pirate themed birthday party I did this year. For the birthday boy I made a pirate mask, sword, and pirate ship. Not only did the birthday boy love it, but all the other guests got a big kick out of it as well.
