  1. Balloon Art Photo of the Day: Doctor Who TARDIS – Dallas Halloween Balloon Costumes – DFW

    I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas. I spent the day with some great friends. As has become my tradition I end Christmas by watching the annual Doctor Who Christmas Special. This year’s was a simply fantastic ode to C.S. Lewis’ “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.” The episode was entitled “The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe.” Steven Moffat is an absolute genius.

     

    Anyway, in honor of that I thought I would share a life-size balloon T.A.R.D.I.S. (Time and Relative Dimensions in Space) I created for a party last October. Also pictured is my friend dressed as River Song. After the party was complete I delivered this to Fantasy Shop, a local game and comic store so other nerds could enjoy it.

  2. Dreams do come true! Balloon TARDIS from Doctor Who – Kaufman Balloon Twister – DFW

    As an artist there are dream projects that we all have. Actually I bet in most professions there are dream projects. The architect want to design the next Taj Mahal. The speaker want to give the next “I have a Dream” speech. The game designer wants to design the next Mario.

    We all have dream projects. Well I finally saw one of those dream projects come to life. You see, not only am I a balloon artist, but I am also a nerd. A big proud nerdy nerd. Being a nerd I am a huge fan of one of the greatest shows of all time: Doctor Who! I love the Doctor and for the last several years I have wanted to build a TARDIS out of balloons, but I have never really had the opportunity.

    Last weekend I had my shot. My friend decided to host a nerd party, Uber-nerd fest 2011, and it was the perfect chance to build my dream project.

    So after several hours my T.A.R.D.I.S was complete!

    There were even people that dressed as River Song, The Doctor, and Rose Tyler! Oh and a little baby Ood as well.

    Besides wishing I had a darker blue I was really pleased with how it came out. After the party I dropped it off the Fantasy Shop in South County St. Louis. I figured that way many more nerds could enjoy it that way.
